Saki No Hana - Hana Fubuki

Fabrication and installation

Working with paper sculptor Lydia Shirreff, Michelin Starred Japanese restaurant Sake No Hana approached her to create an installation to celebrate Cherry Blossom season. Hana Fubuki directly translates as ‘flower snow storm’ which was the basis of the installation.

Shireff wanted to recreate this within the confines of the restaurant using a series of projections and tissue paper screens. Working in conjunction with audio-visual artists SDNA, the installation consisted of 35 tissue paper ‘clouds’ with animated projections of blossom petals creating movement.
